Things you can do on the Writing the World networking community...

1. Create your on-site page. Be creative. Enjoy! (On your page, click Settings on the right. When that window opens, explore the links on the left---Profile, Privacy, Email, and My Page---and set things up the way you want them!)

2. Set up your blog to share your thoughts, advice, experiences and information on writing.

3. You can add up to five applications to your page. (On your page, click Settings on the right. When that window opens, click My Page on the left, then scroll down and click the My Apps Directory link. It will open 32 pages of applications!)

4. Upload photos of yourself, your books, and whatever else. (On your page, Settings, then Profile.) To add photos to the main site, at the top of your page, click Photos. When that opens, at the top right click Add Photos, then follow the directions. That's all there is to it!

5. Start or join a discussion or critique group for your favorite genre.

6. List your upcoming events.

NEW! 7. Visit our Forum! (See the tab at the top of the page.) Take part in an existing discussion or start a brand new discussion.

NEW! 8. Spread the word about our social network for writers! At the bottom right of the main page, click "Get Badge" and design a badge to put on your website or blog to give others the opportunity to join with us in Writing the World.

Thanks, Brad. It sounds as though you have a system that works well for you. One published author I know writes her synopsis before she ever types the first word of Chapter One. I've tried to outline, and it just doesn't work for me. But then I've a…

Pam, take this with a grain of salt but it's a question I'm often asked. I start out with a piece of paper that I write all my notes on. From all those ideas threads emerge. From those threads I weave the plot which gets scratched out on the back of…

Will do, Robert. My good friend and writing buddy, Rebecca Barrett (who is also a member of this group) will be there. Hopefully, we'll meet up with you at some point.

Actually, I did have one good marketing result on FaceBook. When my publisher announced an exceptionally low sale price some months ago on my PLUTONIC SONNETS, I announced it on my Facebook Wall, and a few Facebook Friends promptly posted that they…

Lynn .... currently, I don't have a blog, because I think the sheer mechanics alone, not to mention the writing would keep me from my regular writing (hopefully, the one which will earn money one day rather that require it) I think a blog is a must…

Harvey, no, I don't have a website. Currently, I am so focused with getting the final coat of polish on this manuscript that I don't want to spend the time. However, I think a website is a must for published authors. I was curious about Ms. Reid's c…

Harvey, interesting question. I am on FB but it's strictly social. However, once I get an agent, I'm going to announce it boldly on my home page, and then once I sell my book (notice this positive mood flowing through me today) I will announce it. A…
